The Project
Our company undertook a transformative project to rehabilitate a 600 square meter neglected and deserted land lot in the middle of a residential area in Baghdad. The primary objective was to convert this abandoned space into an urban farming project that leverages permaculture techniques to grow organic produce for the local community.
To begin, we cleared the land of all debris and unwanted waste, creating a clean slate for the development. We then implemented a variety of sustainable agricultural practices, including the installation of raised beds, mulching, and the application of compost tea as a natural fertilizer. These techniques enriched the soil and prepared it for planting.
The land was then cultivated with a diverse array of vegetables, plants, and flowers. The project culminated in a remarkable transformation, turning a once-neglected plot into a flourishing urban farm. This successful initiative not only provided a source of organic produce for the local community but also demonstrated the potential of permaculture techniques in urban settings.
